Best 55 Inch TVs: All You Need to Know is Here
Hi, my name is J.J. Welcome to my Best 55 Inch LCD TV review site.
I know what you’re thinking: another LCD/LED TV review site. Like we need another one of them.
But, here’s the thing: so many of the sites that I’ve seen, while the information is certainly valid, tend to be a little too technical. Mine is different.
What To Look Forward To
Yes, I’m going to tell you about the features of the various models, but I’m also going to tell you what real people have to say about the TVs, both good and bad. In my experience, nothing beats another person’s opinion, especially someone who has owned the TV for a while.
Some Background into Flat Panel TVs
But, first, I’d like to give you a little background in the world of the LED/LCD TV.
Way back when, in 1997, Fujitsu introduced the first plasma TV. This was such a wonderful direction for the TV industry to take that it dominated the flat screen TV area for many years. If you were lucky enough to be able to afford one when they first came out, that is. When they first were introduced, a decent sized flat panel TV cost in the tens of thousands of dollars.
There were other problems as well. Plasma TVs could only be offered in the 42 inch size and larger, so if you wanted something small to sit in your kitchen, you were locked into the old CRT TV with all its bulkiness. In addition, images tended to burn into the screen, which was obviously not a good thing.
Fast forward to 2006 when the LCD TV surpassed the plasma in sales. While the LCD had been available for a number of years, it was the advent of high-definition TV which caused it to really take off. It was also way more reasonably priced than the plasma and could be purchased in a wider range of sizes which the plasma simply couldn’t match.
Next came the LED TV, which is really just an LCD with slightly different technology. It tends to be more expensive than the LCD but is more energy efficient. It also surpasses the LCD in that the set can be extremely thin.

Maybe You’ve Decided on the Model of LCD/LED TV You Want
While there isn’t a whole lot of difference between the LCD and LED TV, you’ve decided that you definitely want a specific model of LCD or LED TV. Then you’re going to want to check out the articles discussing the size of TV which is best for your purpose (So, How Large Should My New TV Be?) and whether to mount your new TV on the wall (Should You Use a Stand or Mount Your LCD TV on the Wall?) Both of these articles will point out some things to keep in mind while you shop and possibly steer you away from a model which wouldn’t work for you.
